What is a Scale Converter?

A scale converter is a simple tool for converting measurements between real-world sizes and scaled drawings. It is useful for architectural plans, engineering projects, map measurements or model layouts. It helps translate a measurement in one scale (e.g., a model car's length) into its corresponding measurement in another scale (e.g., the actual car's length) or vice versa.

What is a Scale?

In design and measurement, a scale is the ratio between the dimensions on a drawing or model and the actual dimensions in real life. For example, at a 1:100 scale, 1 cm on paper represents 100 cm in reality. Scales are used in architecture, engineering, cartography, and many other fields to represent large objects on smaller media.

Example Calculations

Room at scale 1:100: A 5.2 m × 4.8 m room becomes 5.2 cm × 4.8 cm in the drawing.
